Art as Comfort and Inspiration
Art has always had the power to touch emotions, stir memories, and offer healing - and nowhere do I feel that more deeply than in Fountain of Life. A dreamy, almost surreal image: red and pink flowers suspended beneath the surface, surrounded by soft bubbles, dissolving into liquid poetry. This artwork, featured in Kunstvitamine Magazine and the Artists Yearbook, has grown into something much more than a single photograph. It became the seed for a new series, and a gentle reminder of what art can be in times of sorrow and transition.
From Stardust to Stillness
While creating my Stardust series, I stumbled upon an image that felt different. The colors were more intense, the shapes softer, more fluid - like an emotion unfolding underwater. It didn’t quite fit the narrative I was building at the time. And yet, it stayed with me. Whispering something else. Asking for a different space.
During an Art Based Learning course, this image reappeared in my mind with clarity. It became the starting point of a new project: Underwater Flowers. In this body of work, color, light, and motion take center stage. The photos are softer, more emotional. Less about the perfect moment, more about the feeling it leaves behind. They are an exploration of freedom, fragility, and flow.
A Visual Space for Grief and Beauty
In moments of grief or loss, art can transform. It becomes more than something we simply observe - it becomes a quiet space we can enter. A place where emotions are allowed to breathe. Where reflection feels safe. Where beauty softens the weight of sorrow, even if just for a moment.
One of my pieces that carries this energy most clearly is Fountain of Life.
For me, it’s a visual breath - a symbol of stillness and impermanence, yet also of the quiet beauty that can live within both. It feels like a tribute: to life in all its fragility, motion, and light. Floating. Shifting. Endlessly alive.
Nanda Bussers is a visual artist and creator of the EARTH method for intuitive and healing nature photography. Her work explores the quiet connection between nature, presence and inner stillness. Each image is an invitation to pause for a moment, to breathe more slowly, and to reconnect with the natural world, yourself and the moments that often pass unnoticed.
Bringing the presence of nature into your space
My photographs are available as art prints through ArtHeroes and Werk aan de Muur in Europe, and as fine art prints via Fine Art America worldwide. Each piece is created to carry a sense of stillness and connection, whether it offers comfort, reflection or simply a quiet moment within a space.
In addition, I offer a selection of low-resolution images for more personal uses such as memorial or prayer cards. If you feel drawn to a specific image or would like guidance in choosing something that fits your space or intention, you are always welcome to get in touch.
