Stardust: A Journey from Darkness to Light
These images were made from ice. But they look like the beginning of everything.
Part of the permanent collection at Hoeve De Zwingel
Since March 2026, six works from the Stardust series are part of the permanent collection of Hoeve De Zwingel in Nederweert, a crematorium and natural burial ground in the Netherlands. In a space devoted to farewell and remembrance, these works offer a quiet bridge between loss and the enduring light we all carry.
"Nanda's work brings softness and a moment of stillness to families in their most vulnerable moments."

About the series
The Stardust series began as close-up photographs of ice, frost and frozen water. But somewhere between the lens and the eye, they became something much larger. Stars forming. Galaxies drifting. The quiet moment before something begins.
Science tells us we are all made of stardust - that every atom in our bodies was forged inside a dying star. This series makes that invisible truth visible. Each image moves from darkness toward light, from the formless toward the formed. Together they tell the story of how everything begins, and how every ending carries the seed of something new.
These are not dramatic images. They are still. Patient. The kind of image you return to, and find something different each time.
